Lake Dardanelle was constructed in 1965 under the supervision of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is home to Arkansas Nuclear One, the only nuclear power plant in the state of Arkansas. Lake Dardanelle is one of the most accessible and attractive lakes in the state. It is located about half way between Little Rock and Fort Smith on interstate 40. Dardanelle stretches some fifty miles as a part of the Arkansas River Navigation project that cost over 1.2 Billion dollars, and enables shipping from the Mississippi River to Tulsa Ok.
With just over 34,000 acres of fishing waters, and 315 miles of shore line Dardanelle offers many angling opportunities. From it rock bluffs in the Narrows at Piney to the flats in Shoal Bay.
Fishing the lake is extremely popular with anglers of all skill levels. It has been host to several FLW and BASS events. There is a reason that the professional anglers like to come to Lake Dardanelle. It is considered to be one of the most consistent fisheries in the country. Dardanelle will make you think. It has steep ledges ,bluff banks ,shallow flats, grass, lily pads, flooded timber, and areas riddled with lay downs. So you will need to be prepared from everything from a tube, to a 10 inch worm. And from a Rattle Trap to an Alabama Rig, And everything in between. This lake has it all. You just need to find the area that fits your style of fishing, and get after it.
Lake Dardanelle can take you from zero to hero in no time, and back to zero just as fast. Don’t think you can just show up and beat this body of water.
